In short, I make music. I’m based in the Hudson Valley/NYC area, but I like the idea of transcending that. I can be found in the mountains, in the forest, in the city, in the oceans. Wherever there’s sound. In full, I’m a jazz pianist, a composer, and music producer. I started playing classical piano at the age of eight and immediately fell in love with it. When I started college, I switched from studying Classical to Jazz Piano. I am a recent graduate from the State University of New York at New Paltz with a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance.
But accolades aside, I do a lot more than that. When it comes to composing, I really like to experiment with it. I like playing around with weird time signatures, interesting harmonies, and whatever strange sounds or approaches I can find. One of my favorite parts about making music is that trippy feeling you create when you experiment with sounds. That moment when your music confuses up your bandmates or the ears of your listeners. The kind of moment that makes someone ask themselves, “Why does that work?” But they still find themselves bopping to it.
When composing for myself, I tend to make energetic Jazz Fusion and Funk works with some odd elements added in. A lot of the music I compose pull from Jazz, Funk, Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop, and Classical elements. My major influences include Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and Hiromi Uehara. When it comes to music production, my sound is heavily influenced by artists like Anomalie and Snail’s House.
These are all my interests, but making any kind of music is fun for me. Whether it’s mixing, producing, composing, or performing, it’s all fun and enjoyable for me, and I love doing it. If I weren’t doing it for work, I’d still be doing it anyway. I will play anything if it has a sound, especially if it’s absurd.
